RUTH PETERSON
Ruth Peterson's ADSA and TECCO collection have encouraged me to not purely look to graphic deisgners for my inspiration. She created a monogram print that utilises two well known supermarket logos, in a slightly less recognisable format. It demostrates how as a society we are indoctrinated by a world of brands and advertising.
ANDY SMITH
I discovered Andy Smith's work through the 26th edition of the Association of Illustrators book. The majority of his work revolves around creating humerous typography that has a handmade feel to it. He has partnered with organisations such as London Zoo for themed projects.
EVA MALLEY
Eva Malley is a Bighton based illustrator whos style I truly admire! Her black and white prints are so detailed and feel complete, despite the absence of colour. It is a style I would like to try to embody in my own digital drawings.
MICHELLE THOMPSON
Michelle Thompson is a prime example of how you can make a successful living from creating art for a comercial setting. Her use of mixed media and creation of collage like images have enabled her to work with the likes of Tkmaxx and White Stuff.
PABLO THECUADRO
Pablo Thecuadro is a collage artist who combines fashion photos to create these somewhat abstracted images. I admire his use of raw methods such as cutting up magazines and his technical skills when it comes to working digitally. His work has been used by clothing brands such as Nike and Pull&Bear.
BETHANY WILLIAMS
Bethany Williams is a designer I first discovered through her collection 'Breadline'. I am heavily inspired by strong messages her work embodies: each piece is representitive of an important message to society. 'Breadline' was developed in collaboration with Tescos and the Vauxhall foodbank, using all sustainably sourced materials. Williams is a true force for change.
MARIA RAYMONDSDOTTER
Maria Raymondsdotter is another illustrator i discovered from a copy of the Association of Illustrators. She is best recognised for the fun characters she creates, which have been used for everything from wine labels to short animations.
BANKSY
Having watched 'Exit through the gift shop', a film all about the undercover world of streetart, I have devoloped an even further interest into the mystery of Banksy. The bold yet witty statements made by his work embody the approach I'd like to have towards my graphic/advertising work: creating visuals that you don't forget in an hours time.
